A Bit Picture Heavy...

It's been a little over a year since Oy passed. November 27, 2010.

This is the first picture I got of him, someone had found him and was trying to find a good home. They sent me this picture:

He met Hermia.
It was love at first sight.
So precious.
He started getting bigger

He liked harassing the dog.
Every night I would make a nest out of the fuzzy blanket and tuck him in. He would stay there until about 5 a.m., which was about when he would cry to go outside.
And he got bigger.
Very photogenic.
I don't think his canines ever stopped growing.
And so he grew up, big and strong, protector of the household.

Sewing Table

When I sew I usually lay out everything on the floor. It is pretty miserable kneeling and cutting. I do have a large table, but it is not wide enough. I did get a good idea how to make it larger though. My table is 3 x 6 feet.

http://www.harborsales.net/tabid/130/Default.aspx?ProductTypeId=64

I can bolt the 4 x 8 sheet of coroplast to the table. I will have to make sure the edges aren't sharp, but it should work. I should be able to get the bolts flush with the flat surface. The 10 mm coroplast is very strong. And Harbor Sales has free shipping if you're on one of their truck routes (yay!).

$35.06 for a sheet. Not pretty, but it should work well.

Potential problems:

Creepy things growing in flutes. Can be prevented if I seal off the edges well. Poly vinyl carbonate vapors? Psh. Doesn't ever reach above 60 degrees in my sewing area.

Stress

I think I need a vacation. Somewhere nice and warm, with water. And kittens. Kittens are nice too.

Vera Bradley's Folkloric Inspiration

I saw one of my friends today, I almost fell over when I saw her tote. I said, "I have fabric that looks almost just like that!". When she left I went into the basement and took it out of the stash:

This is her tote on the bottom.

My fabric is from the mid 1960s. I am in no way accusing anyone of any copying, I just run across these sort of similarites all the time. Everything gets recycled :)

May

I still can't decide. Male or female? During the winter I always pass by this lawn ornament... If you're brave click on it for a larger view.

Fountain pen and cheap paint on cardboard.

It's been 7 months. At least he got to grow up into a handsome cat.

That was the last picture I ever took of him.

I am currently looking for another snail. Snaily 1 was particularly fond of apples. If you listened closely you could hear him chewing (aka "rasping").

Patterns...

So many patterns. For a week now I've had a box of patterns in my bed... I wish I had some more space haha!

I found this dress, I would kill to know what pattern this was sewn from!
I feel so boring right now. The only exciting thing I can think of is that my boyfriend found a large black snake (hanging from the rafters above him) and freaked out. Not that I wouldn't freak out in that situation but I probably would have been nicer to it than he was. Poor snake :(
I'm going to take an accounting class this summer, which is pretty different from what I usually take. I'll write next time something interesting happens...
