Painting

I haven't painted for almost a year now. I started on this a few days ago, this picture is from about a half hour into it. When I am finished the underpainting I'll add some color to it. Can you tell it is a kitty cat?

Snails and Stuff

I have found another snaily, this one is rather small. Unfortunately Snaily 1 died a few months ago. Snaily 2 (a.k.a. "little snaily") is pretty adorable though, not going to lie. The little black dot on the upper right portion of the lettuce is the little snaily.

I have started to make candles. I love beeswax.

I recently listed a pair of boots and they already sold. Probably one of the best things I have ever found, and I would have kept them if they fit (too big).

Just gorgeous. I also recently found the most amazing wedding dress ever. 1950s. Layers of tulle. Didn't fit me either, haha.

I miss Snaily (Snaily 1).

MCCALLS 3788 dress by Givenchy.

For sale on Ebay

If I had the money, I would do a buy-it-now in a heartbeat. *sighs*

I have a few new sewing patterns up on my Etsy. None quite compare to the one above haha.

Kitty not for sale.

Feedsack Fabric

I have a new obsession with feedsack printed fabrics. Especially anything with strawberries, haha. I found this collection of 50 prints at Keepsake Quilting.

I found some amazing strawberry print fabric on Etsy, the seller also has some in blue too.

I also discovered GovDeals yesterday. There is nothing that I need there but it is interesting to see the things that they have for sale. Right now there is a lot of 30 "obsolete" duck crossing signsfor sale. I wonder why they are obsolete. Maybe all the ducks are gone :(

Vogue 2960 Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Close-fitting, low neckline bodice and cap sleeves, gathered in front of upper bodice, darted at waistline, flared skirt with release pleats at waistline seam, below mid-calf length and front buttoned closure.

Pattern Sizing: DD(12-14-16-18)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for the lack of buttons. It looked a lot better when my friend tried it on, my guy friend is the one modeling it in the picture (no offense to you A.J., you're just not a dress kind of guy).

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I did not run across any problems sewing this dress, and the instructions were written very clear.

Fabric Used: Sheer embroidered organdy over white silk dupioni.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Removed the button-front closure and added a zipper instead. Used a sheer overlay fabric over the white silk dupioni, and gathered the skirt rather than pleating it. Gathering it was neccessary in my case so the border embroidery of the sheer fabric would remain flush with the hem.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I definitely would. I recently bought this pattern so I can sew this in my size (I sewed this dress for a friend for her prom).

Conclusion: Definitely recommended!

At least I have something to feel good about right now.

Yesterday

I dropped by the sewing machine shop to try and find some pinking shears. Big mistake! Yesterday I realized how incomplete my life is without a serger. I almost feel irresponsible sewing things without one now.

*sighs*

My Pfaff

For a while nowI've been sewing with a Babylock Crafter's Choice sewing machine, it does pretty good. I've had to take it in a few times, but not as many as I have had to with some machines. I especially like the automatic needle threader and not having to stick my fingers into the deep mechanical abyss to change the bobbin.

Well, it's broken now, and I've been using my Pfaff 230, featuring "Automatic Dial-a-Stitch". I am very thankful I have a manual for the Pfaff 230, there are definitely a lot of knobs on this one. Earlier this month I was planning on selling it, but now I think I am going to be selling the Babylock. The Pfaff will most likely be the one that will survive the nuclear blast...

My Etsy views are down like everyone else's are. Way, way down. I used to have about 200-300 per day, but now it is at about 40 to 5o (If I am lucky). I caved in. Google, Etsy, you win. Here comes the AdWords campaign! Let's see how that goes.

Wet Cat

Rain today. Wet cat! I now know that he hates the hair dryer, so I just throw a towel over him and try not to get bitten. I love this little monster.

Am I the only one? I have a fair amount of fabric, but some of it I can't bear to take scissors to. I'll go to my sewing room holding a pattern and think, dang, I don't have any fabric (which actually means dang, I don't have anything I am too afraid to use).
