Vogue 2960 Pattern Review

Pattern Description: Close-fitting, low neckline bodice and cap sleeves, gathered in front of upper bodice, darted at waistline, flared skirt with release pleats at waistline seam, below mid-calf length and front buttoned closure.

Pattern Sizing: DD(12-14-16-18)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for the lack of buttons. It looked a lot better when my friend tried it on, my guy friend is the one modeling it in the picture (no offense to you A.J., you're just not a dress kind of guy).

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I did not run across any problems sewing this dress, and the instructions were written very clear.

Fabric Used: Sheer embroidered organdy over white silk dupioni.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Removed the button-front closure and added a zipper instead. Used a sheer overlay fabric over the white silk dupioni, and gathered the skirt rather than pleating it. Gathering it was neccessary in my case so the border embroidery of the sheer fabric would remain flush with the hem.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I definitely would. I recently bought this pattern so I can sew this in my size (I sewed this dress for a friend for her prom).

Conclusion: Definitely recommended!
